  1. Any earlier than this? Registered 1 / 10 / 79. 55k from new all original early features.
  2. Hi, might be able to help you with the bulkhead plenum. About to cut up the remains of a series 1 estate I've broken. Panel seems very sound, which is strange as the rest of the car is rotten as a pear.
  3. I would agree with Mk1/2 Transit as this is an actual seperate panel on the van and would have been part of the shell when constructed as opposed to a repair section which is what they would be if they were for a Cortina. Pretty sure Ford don't do sections of panels.
  4. Hi Mark, great to hear from you and we have had contact before. Wasn't sure you still had it mate but I'm very pleased she still exists!! Plesae tell me its not as bad as this one?? Hope you can find time in the future to devote to her. If not keep me in mind. Cheers
  5. Blimey Matt, that X/19 is a bit diverse compared to the rest, did your Dad have an off day?! Only kidding each to their own. Its still some collection. Pity about the Vauxhalls but I'm sure the welding that Fiat must need will more than make up for it. Sid.
  6. Hi Matt, thats some collection you've got there mate! What are the two non Fords, I suspect Vauxhall? I'm very partial to a nice Victor or Cresta myself (got my Grandad's FD Victor in my Mums garage-but its no minter!!). Checked DVLA for all the Cortina's, the only one showing is Mk5 but not taxed since 1992, being realistic they've gone. But we'll just enjoy what we have, which is more than enough- I think collecting old cars needs to recognised as some form of medical condition. Sid
  7. Fair play mate. I do have to say though that if any of my Dad's Cortinas resurfaced they would have to be barely recognisable as cars for me not to attempt to restore them. I think our parents are the main influence for this hobby as its what we grew up with cos' they drove them. To still have "Dad's Cortina" is something most of us would hold very dear. Good luck with the resto and look forward to the pics. P.S Just in case, list of Dad's Cortinas: Mk1 2 door Deluxe Imperial maroon/grey roof reg AFS 862B No trace on dvla Mk2 2 door Deluxe 1600 auto White with red int. reg UPG 5~~F Can't remember full reg (pretty sure scrapped 1978) Mk3 1600 auto estate reg CLG 469N White with black int. Defo scrapped as I weighed it in in 1996 DOH! Mk5 2.3 Ghia auto saloon Cosmos blue reg ATD 582V last taxed 1992
  8. I suppose thats the beauty/problem with digital pictures my friend. The car has had previous MOT repairs before which have rotted out again. The only good panel is the tailgate(always seem to be on estates). Needs sills inner and outer, front wings, doors, front valance e.t.c. I don't like breaking them to be honest but rest assured it will go to good use as we have a 1967 1600 super, a 1970 1600E and a soon to be completed 1500 Super. The first car I ever restored was an estate Mk2 back in the 90's (YYA 126H where are you now?) so my conscience is resonably clear. Believe me I have been known to wearing rose tinted specs many times in the past. Can't save em' all though. Sid
  9. Hi again, I managed to find a home for the Landcrab luckily, and you are very observant, that is the very same GB badge. I will watch with interest!
  10. Hi everyone, just thought I'd share some pics as we all like a good "barn find". Local car nerd legend had it that behind an old bakery/shop/house not too far away from my old high school lay an old car with "fins" in the garage. My first thought was Zephyr/Zodiac or big Farina but for a couple of years I thought no more of it. The passage of time got my juices flowing and late last year I plucked up the courage for a nose as the property was empty and now for sale. With a mixture of fear (strickly speaking its trespassing!) and excitment I walked up the lane and clocked the garage. Peeking through the knackered door I found my "fin"........a bleeding Austin 1800 landcrab!! Deflated I just glanced across and spotted the outline of the Cortina resplendant in Saluki Bronze and rust. One scribbled note and a return phone call later and the Cortina was ours. It went in there the in 1988 after 98,00 miles and I suspect was clapped out then. Shes a breaker and will provide a few parts for the 3 mk2s we have and some to pass on. Enjoy the pics. [/img]
  11. Hi, great post but it is a little sad to see how quick Classic Fords can vanish. I am pleased to say though that amoungst my fleet of Granadas, Cortinas and a single Zodiac the silver Ghia saloon NVP501X is alive, dry stored and awaiting resto with me. It came close to the crusher though. Got it from a mate in Wallasey around 2004 he got it while working in Birmingham but fell out of love with it after 6 months when it needed a test and welding. He is a bit well known for running motors and driving them to the bridge when he's short on cash (scrap was £150 a car at the time) so it was a close thing. The car is generally tidy and has loads of history but will one day hopefully get the full treatment. At the moment its just not priorty, just glad it safe.
  12. That ones quite well know to us Ford heads in this area (North Wales/Wirral), probably been there about 20 years!!!!
  13. I can take you some pics of positions etc if you need them from my own, to be honest there is not alot to the pulleys etc, you could prob use any once you have locations don't have to be off specifically a cortina. Let me know if you want pics its no prob. That would be a great help mate. I am thinking of adapting the pulley off one of my spare axles as one of the locations so any help you can give further would be a kick start. Thanks again. Sid
  14. Hi all and Happy New Year. Part of my new years resolution is to get our Mk2 1500 Super of its stands and out of the bleedin' garage and I hope someone on here can help. I have swapped the magic wand gearbox for a single rail GT one (the wife has killed too many clutches with that gear change!) and have now decided to fit the full GT console as I thought this would show off the rechromed gear lever quite nicely. However, obviously I need to move the handbrake to under the dash. I have a spare lever from my Mk3 Zody bits which fits spot on with a nice chrome T handle and a new cable for the GT but does anyone know someone breaking a series 1 1600E or GT for the guide pulleys/brackets and location positions???? Hope someone can help. Cheers, Sid.
  15. HI Trusty. Have broken several over the years and currently have a 2.0 GL fitted with a smart brown chatsworth Ghia trim thats available. Complete with correct door cards. Carpet there but not sure of condition. Based near Chester. Let me know if interested. Cheers, Sid.
