Lotus Cortina mkII for sale

Recommended Posts

I was hoping to find the time to rebuild my Lotus Cortina but alas it has not happened.

Now space constraints (wife) are demanding that I either rebuild it or sell it on to a worthy person.

What we are looking at here is a geniune MKII Lotus Cortina - engine is in parts but is in generally good condition, bodywork wise the front wings were arc-welded on before I got hold of it, and in the boot the spare wheel well is rusted away. Wheels for some reason are ex-mk3.

The reg no. CTC16E indicates that this was one of the cars used to advertise on the launch of the Cortina Twin Cam 1600E - I am told it was brought by an employee who kept it until his granson bought from him - no reason to doubt this as I have known both of them since I was eleven years old. Also have a tatty workshop manual.

Reasonable offers please given the uniqueness of this car.

Pictures to be added later

See page 73 of Graham Robson's "The Sporting Fords (Cortinas)" for a photo of this car. It was a Ford Press car used for promotional purposes when new.

I have added the post to the LCR Forum for interested parties.

CTC 17 E was a ford press car and is in the "all new ford cortina lotus" press brochure and CTC 24 E was an alan mann race car with a 16 valve formula 2 engine.there was quite a few CTC cars and all have an interesting history i think.ie press cars, rally cars and race cars etc.

Steve - your inbox is full - Where are the pics - I can't see them on the forum?

Please supply an address or phone no as my mate Pete Gedling lives in North Weald and he can view the car for me.

Ok - much clearing of garage later - wife had decided to cover the car with empty boxes!!

Cortina Lotus CTC16E

Engine Number: LF8112LB/A

Body Number: BA91CK44266 BA

Assembly Codes: R H A D B631

Engine in two main parts block and head - flywheel rotates easily by hand, Carbs are separate.

Wings and top plates unfortunately arc welded on but repairable.

An air horn has been fitted but the orginal is in the car.

Bodywork seems to be in relatively good condition, and is straight with no accident damage.

Interior in surprising good condition - although a sunroof was fitted during the eighties.

A non-orginal steering wheel has been fitted, but the original is in the boot.

The front grille and headlamp surrounds are inside together with some chrome trim.

Its not a concours condition runner - but also not a basket case.

Please make a reasonable offer.

pictures will be added when i work out how to do it.

thanks

Steve
